“My 15-year-old son wants to start taking pre-workout before his travel basketball games. Is this safe?”

Most pre-workout formulas contain stimulant levels that are simply too high for developing athletes, and many include ingredients that haven't been studied in adolescents at all. My recommendation: skip the pre-workout for now, choose a NSF Certified for Sport protein, and focus on meal timing around practice.
