“My son fell off his scooter. He had a helmet on, but he is complaining of a headache. What is safe for me to give him? He is 10.”

Most head injuries in kids are mild  and heal well, but you want to keep a close eye over the next 24-48 hours.  Common symptoms that improve over a few days are mild headache, dizziness and fatigue. But you will want to seek medical attention if he vomits more than once ( one time is common). His headache worsens. He behaves unusually, trouble walking or talking and vision changes.   The best thinks to do is make sure he is rested and hydrated. You can use Tylenol to alleviate the pain but no NSAIDs ie ibuprofen, naproxen and even aspirin.
